Wow! We are in the last half of December and that means I am off from school, at least for a couple of days. This explains why I had enough time on me to attend the WordCamp Kampala 2017, the first of its kind in Uganda.
Having built a couple of websites for individuals and organizations using Word Press. This definitely felt like the perfect time to hear from and interact with the best from the Word Press community in Uganda.
The event went down on the 16th and 17th of December, 2017, at OutBox Kampala and I sure enjoyed every second I spent there. This year’s WordCamp not only left me with a full stomach and a cool T-Shirt to show. It opened my mind to the countless opportunities the most popular CMS has to offer.
There was a lot to learn, especially from the speakers who were oozing with knowledge about the different web design aspects. The speakers highlighted a number of issues on several topics such as security, SEO, monetizing blogs, Word Press plugin development, choosing Word Press themes, relevance of using child themes and much more.
One particular thing that one could not fail to notice about the meet-up, is the fact that it attracted individuals from several backgrounds. While there, I got to not only meet fellow word Press developers but also bloggers, users, marketeers, among others. I am pretty sure if I was keen enough, I would have met my soul-mate too! 😉
The event left me with a lot of motivation and hopefully, I will be part of the speakers come 2018. I could not have chosen a better way to end this year. I am thus grateful to every one that contributed to the success of the first WordCamp in the pearl of Africa.
